Salon On Demand: Dolly Alderton with Damian Barr.

You can now watch full Salon interviews, including the Q&A, with Salon On Demand! Don’t worry if you missed it live, your ticket will give you access to a special private YouTube film of the event. Now you can pause mid-thought to put the kettle on or fix yourself another cocktail. For just £5 you can watch anywhere, anytime and access it as many times as you like.

In our latest Salon on Demand, Damian interviews Dolly Alderton, journalist, co-host of the High Low podcast and award-winning author of the hit memoir Everything I Know About Love. Dolly shares her debut novel Ghosts with us and goes deep on love, laughter, loss, sex scenes, identity and more. She also shares brilliant advice, including how to make it in journalism and what she’d say to her 21 year old self. Not to be missed!

In Ghosts, Nina has made it to her early thirties as a successful food writer with adoring friends and family. Daring to date on an app, she meets Max, a classic romcom hero who tells her on their first date that he's going to marry her. So, it seems like everything is going to plan for Nina. Seems like. Because Nina’s thirties have not been the liberating, uncomplicated experience she was promised as she toiled and twirled through her twenties. Everywhere she turns, she sees time passing and opportunities dwindling. Friendships are fading, ex-boyfriends are finally moving on and, worse, people she knows are moving to the suburbs. Her mother is caught in a baffling mid-life makeover and her beloved dad is slowly vanishing into dementia.

We SO enjoyed our evening with Dolly and talking about this funny and tender book, filled with whip-smart observations about relationships, family, and how we (think we) live now. So settle back, relax and enjoy!

Salon On Demand tickets are just £5: you can watch the interview in full and access it again at any time.
